The Cat® C175-16 diesel generator set from Caterpillar Inc. has been certified to meet United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Tier 4 Interim emission standards. This 60 Hz package - rated at 3000 to 3100 ekW for standby and mission-critical power, 2725 to 2825 ekW at prime power and 2500 to 2600 ekW at continuous power - offers fuel efficiency and lower emissions in a compact footprint.

"Caterpillar was the first manufacturer of Tier 4 Interim-certified generator sets rated for more than 1 MW," said Robert Koval, investor projects general manager of Caterpillar Electric Power Division. "For our U.S. customers that require generators to operate outside of a stationary emergency application, we have EPA-certified solutions. By offering a wide range of EPA-certified Tier 4 Interim generator sets - including the C175-16 - we are helping our customers meet their power needs sustainably."

With the addition of the C175-16, Caterpillar offers the widest range of Tier 4 Interim-certified generator sets in the industry, ranging from 455 kW to 3100 kW. To provide customers with the most economical and efficient power systems, Caterpillar continues to develop generator sets engineered to deliver flexibility, expandability, reliability and cost-effectiveness, all while meeting the reduced emissions levels required by EPA emission standards.

The C175-16 generator set meets EPA Tier 4 Interim emission standards with the Cat clean emissions module (CEM). This after-treatment system features a diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) combined with a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) module and an air-assisted urea injection system to reduce oxides of nitrogen (NOx), hydrocarbons and particulate matter. The placement of the CEM has been optimized to provide a compact footprint, minimizing installation costs.

Available with a full range of factory designed and tested attachments, the C175-16 offers flexible packaging options for easy installation and optimal performance. Cat Tier 4 Interim generators can be integrated into larger power systems that include the complete line of Cat power equipment, such as line interactive flywheel UPS, double conversion battery UPS, paralleling switchgear and automatic transfer switch products.

To support this new line of generator sets, Catdealers and technicians are factory trained in emissions technology installation and service. Caterpillar is a leader in the power generation marketplace with power systems engineered to deliver unmatched durability, reliability and value. The company offers worldwide product support, with parts and service available globally through the Cat authorized service and dealer network. In addition, dealer service technicians are trained to service every aspect of Cat equipment. For technical or dealer information, visit www.catelectricpowerinfo.com/pr or e-mail cat_power@cat.com.
