The WLC's rules state that contestants must only use one chainsaw for all five disciplines during the championship. The chainsaws are thoroughly inspected by the judges before and during the competition.

The winner of the WLC 2010, Andres Olesk from Estornia, secured his gold medal using a Jonsered CS 2171. First runner up, Jean Michel Petitqueux, accredits his success to a Husqvarna 576XP.

Counting the top three results in the four sawing disciplines (tree felling, bucking by combined cuts, precision bucking, limbing) chainsaws from Husqvarna group outnumbered the competition. Nine of the 12 medals were won by products manufactured by Husqvarna Group. Particularly noticeable was the success in limbing, where Husqvarna products won all medals - gold, silver and bronze.
